What a fantastic weekend, 2nd Annual Boomer Blast 2011!!! Well we are home, unpacked and cleaning and organizing! I wanted to recap this past tournament and thank as many friends and sponsors that I can think of……. So here goes, Thank You City of Stillwater for allowing us to have our Tournament on Boomer Lake, Thank you Eric from Oakley and Casey from Kicker, for supplying us with great prizes, tents and flags. Thank you to Red Bull for supporting us in a million different ways, from product to tents and umbrellas and all the behind the scenes that you do to make every one of our events off the charts awesome!
I want to thank each and every one of you that helped out in any way, shape or form this past weekend, from set-up to tear down, to practice pulls, judging, working the doc, making sandwiches, buying and filling up endless ice chests, organizing games and prizes and the list is endless……. Oklahoma Wake Series would not be a success without each and every one of you, may God bless you for all your love, support and hard work!
Okay, so the news that was getting around was that Grand Lake was a hazard and danger for anyone to get into. We arrived home late Monday, called GRDA and started asking questions and doing our homework. GRDA along with numerous medical reports said that the blue green algae is only harmful to ANIMALS, a close doctor friend of ours read an email he received that said the blue green algae is not harmful to people. We have had the algae in Grand Lake for years! Not ONE person has been seen in an Emergency Room or at a Doctor’s Office about Blue Green Algae, to record! Matt with a boat load of guys spent all day yesterday in Grand Lake riding and they are feeling just fine! There are rumors and media hype, as with anything, so that is why we wanted to find out ourselves. We had thought about moving our next tournament on July 30th to another location but after much research and discussion we will NOT be moving it and we will still be having in on Grand Lake in Duck Creek, unless we hear or experience different.
Other IMPORTANT NEWS!!!!!!
Our next tournament was originally scheduled for two days….It will only be a ONE DAY Tournament, we want to have fun with our families that travel so far to join us for the weekend and we haven’t been able to do that with working the tournaments for two days. So, we will compete on Saturday and give awards immediately following the last rider and then head on over to Ugly Johns for dinner and a Rail Jam. Then on Sunday it is Fun Day and we want to ride and have fun with everyone, anyone needing lessons, please let me know and if I can’t give them then one of our fantastic riders that normally give lessons will be here and available to work with you and get you ready for the next tournament!
Our last and final tournament was going to be held in Bixby at Lake Bixhoma, August 12th-14th, that tournament has been moved to Lake Keystone at New Mannford Ramp, we will be there on August 12th giving pay for pulls, and again this will be a one day only event, August 13th. On August 14th we will be having our Year End Banquet, that location will be near Lake Keystone in the City of Tulsa; I will give you further details when we get everything in place.
The last tournament at Lake Keystone August 13th will be in conjunction with Mannford’s Festival (Boats, Melons and BBQ) there will be a huge festival on land with lots of food and entertainment as well as a Cardboard Box Boat Racing competition…. I will give you details to this, in the weeks to follow! To find out more about it right now visit http://mannfordbc.com/ we will form Teams and race our homemade boats from 2:00-3:00 on that Saturday, during our break.
Alright everyone, thanks again for a fantastic tournament and turn out, we appreciate your support, be safe, and we will see you all in a couple of weeks. Remember if you are in the Grand Lake Area, hit me or The Hibbing’s up, we would love to see you and hang out!!
